A traditional Australian game of strategy. Two players compete with twelve tokens each by moving them diagonally one square at a time. Either jumping over their opponent’s tokens or simply blocking them, a player wins by capturing all of their rival’s tokens or leaving them unable to make a move.
Introduced to Australia during European settlement, the game grew in popularity becoming a common pastime in homes, pubs and other social situations. The game has its origins in antiquity and is also known by the name checkers.
